Ceramic Knives is a Ukrainian-American band based in Pittsburgh. Formed by filmmaker, writer, and musician Oleksandr Frazé-Frazénko and vocalist Mari Frazé-Frazénko, the group blends post-punk, blues, experimental rock, and Ukrainian folk influences into a sound that is raw, immediate, and unmistakably its own.
Born out of war, displacement, and constant movement, Ceramic Knives combines layered vocals, distorted guitars, driving rhythms, and reimagined folk traditions. Their songs explore memory, exile, love, survival, and transformation, moving between fragile intimacy and explosive intensity.
Named after a material that is both razor-sharp and easily broken, the band embraces the tension between strength and vulnerability.
